Cup Disappointment for Tigers

2/10/2018

Loxwood Tigers U13's suffered an early exit from the South Surrey CRGP Cup with a 7 - 0 defeat to Division 1 side Horsley Harriers.

The home side started well, with the best of the opening play and were unlucky not to take an early lead after fine work from Tom Lillywhite, but his cross into the box eluded his team mates.  The early let-off woke the Harriers and they soon took the lead.  From there on, it was one-way traffic, the Harriers' league superiority showing against a determined Loxwood side.

5 - 0 at half-time gave the Magpies a mountain to climb, but the second half was an opportunity to play for pride and they delivered.  Louis Horsley came out of goal and suddenly Loxwood became a threat.  Sadly chances for Horsley, Tom Pearce and Toby Chandler slipped away without a goal, the Harriers keeper saving well from Horsley and Chandler and doing enough to force Pearce's shot wide from a one-on-one.  At the other end, Tom Lillywhite and Ollie Zeffert helped to shore-up the defence alongside Josh Arnold and Theo Rawlins.  Harry Comber and George Lillywhite both did well in midfield to restrict the Harriers' dominance and a few saves from Toby Nicholls cemented a much improved second half performance, with the Magpies finally succumbing to a 7 - 0 defeat.

Team: Louis Horsley, Toby Nicholls, Theo Rawlins, Ollie Zeffert, Tom Lillywhite, Josh Arnold, Tom Pearce, Toby Chandler, George Lillywhite, Harry Comber
