Ewhurst 0 V 4 Loxwood 3rd April 2021 Squad : Kinley, Fletch, Tom, Nathan, Liam, Scott, Charlie D, Chris, Charlie C, Harry B, Rowan, Declan, Ethan, Will, Hamish, Alex Goals : Tom (2), Liam, Chris The magpies returned to football with a solid performance and a 4-0 away win in a friendly game at Ewhurst. The game started with the rustiness showing on both sides after 4 months of no football. The whites featured new debutants Fletch and Scott who both made good contributions to the game. After a good start from the hosts, Loxwood began to impose themselves with some good flowing moves with Ethan sending in some dangerous crosses from the right. Following a good team move after 20 mins Chris smashed a half volley against the bar, and then shortly afterwards Loxwood took the lead after a great strike from Tom which the keeper got his fingertips to but just couldn’t keep out. Into the Second Half and with the wind behind their backs the magpies began to dominate possession. Tom nearly doubled his tally after his shot hit the post after a great cross from Scott. Kinley, playing in an unaccustomed up front role, shot just over bar after Scott chased a through ball from Declan. Loxwood then went 2-0 up after Chris slotted home after a great mazy run from Liam. Liam then capped off a fine personal second half display to make it 3-0 with a great strike off the post. Into the final moments and Tom scored the goal of the game with a rasping left shot after a great layoff from Nathan to make it 4-0. In the last few minutes and Ewhurst pushed forward in a desperate effort to get on the scoresheet but Fletch in goal made a great save on the line to deny a late strike. All in all this was a great run out for the whites which will put them in great shape for the first league match back against Dorking. Man of the match this week goes to Liam for his great midfield display. |
