With a strong squad and on the back of a morale-boosting win the previous week, the Magpies' tails were up for the visit to Milford Pumas Typhoons.
However, the game started badly with Loxwood just not on their game for the first quarter. Two soft goals later and the boys found themselves 2-0 down, resulting in the whites having to chase the game for the rest of the game.
To be fair though, things improved from then on as Loxwood were more aggressive and composed with Harry marshalling a defence of Coalan and Zach and limiting Milford to rare opportunities, and the second quarter ended goalless. In the third quarter, Loxwood began to gain the upper hand with Tom controlling the midfield and releasing wingers Hamish and Will to good effect. Then, following a corner after some good pressing from Nathan, the ball fell to debutant Gethin in the box who slammed the ball home from close range. Game on!!
In the fourth quarter, the game was now end-to-end as Loxwood continued to press forward with Ethan holding the ball up in his centre forward role releasing runners Charlie, Hamish and Gethin. Then Milford capitalised on a free kick from the edge of the box to go 3-1 up in what was one of few shots on target. But Loxwood showed their resilience and didn't let their heads drop with Hamish slotting home after being released after some good play from Liam and Tom. Unfortunately time just ran out for the whites and the final whistle blew with a 3-2 defeat.
Overall it was a great effort with the magpies paying for that sluggish start. If we took that first quarter out of the equation Loxwood would have 'won' the game, showing great resilience and determination. A special mention to debutant Gethin who showed a nice touch and some great pace upfront with a goal to open his account. Welcome to Loxwood, Gethin!!
