Saturday September 14th - Loxwood 2 v 3 Bookham Colts
The magpies opened their campaign with a tight 3-2 defeat in a pulsating encounter at their new home ‘the nest’.
The game started at a fast pace and with some tricky strikers bookham ran into a quick 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes.
But the whites showed some great resolve to reduce the deficit initially following a nice composed finish from Will Percy and then an absolute barnstormer of a drive from Ethan J-N. What a feeling to see that hit the back of the net!!!
So it was 3-2 to bookham at half time.
The second half was a much tighter affair but there were still chances for both sides.
No one could break the second half deadlock however with bookham running out winners in a game that could have gone either way.
Man of the Match this week was awarded to Tom Bonney for a game changing performance. The slow starting Magpies were sparked into life as Tom used his never say die attitude as the catalyst for getting them back into the match. Others came close to matching Tom, but his all action energetic display just shaded the award this week.
