It’s always a nice feeling to get a win, but it’s an extra special feeling when your team come out on top after a closely fought battle. This was a great battling performance and the boys really deserved their 3-2 victory against Milford Pumas Jets.
We started with an impeccably observed minute’s silence to show our respects to Armistice day.
Then it was game on!! The weather definitely played a factor in this game with a strong wind pegging Loxwood back in the first quarter but Jack did well to keep a clean sheet in goal with Liam, Zach and Nathan keeping opposition chances to a minimum. However in the second quarter, following continued Milford pressure the deadlock was broken following a great individual run and finish from midfield. But Loxwood were getting more and more into the game with Charlie and Hamish showing great energy in midfield, and Jack just missing the target with a fine 30 yard strike which just skimmed over the bar.
In the third quarter, The Whites had the wind behind them, and Ethan was holding the ball up really well to release the lightning pace of Gethin and debutant Rowan. The chances kept coming and following continued Magpies pressure, Rowan bore down on goal and struck home for the equaliser. Nice finish!! Loxwood kept up the momentum with good energy from skipper Will and Dan in midfield. But Milford then broke away and following a cross the ball was deflected in past keeper Ethan.
Could Loxwood bounce back from this blow? Absolutely!! After a great interchange of passes between Will, Tom and Hamish the ball went through to Gethin to slot home. Get in!! So, all square after the third quarter and Loxwood were increasingly on top with a number of chances going begging. Milford were struggling to cope with the pace of Gethin and Rowan, and with just a few minutes left an interchange between Jack and Charlie led to a deep cross falling to Gethin who slotted home for the winner. Great finish!
Then the final whistle came and a great win for Loxwood. Well done boys!! A great battling performance and we never let our heads drop so well done everyone.
Well done to Rowan for a great debut and a goal to boot!! A great speedy, skillful performance. Welcome to Loxwood, Rowan!!
