Fernhurst Fireworks 3-4 Loxwood
In a game where we looked certain to lose we came back strong for a hard fought victory! These children certainly know how to get your heart rate up!
The First quarter we started on top bit then with a few lapses in concentration Fernhurst quickly took control but fortunately we saw the first quarter through to end 0-0.
The second quarter started the way the first ended, Fernhurst on top. As soon as Fernhurst scored the heads dropped and we quickly conceded 2 more. If not for a few good saves from Charlie and some good defensive tackles and blocks from Oli and George it could have been a lot worse. Fortunately for us we managed to pinch a goal before half time, Joe scoring direct from a corner! The half time score 3-1 Fernhurst.
The second half started much more fluently and with a sense of determination to fight back.
Tackles were flying in, composure on the ball and the heads were up. Half way through the third quarter a slick one-two between Lewis and Eddie led to the second goal, Lewis finishing well, and Eddie measuring the through pass to perfection! 3-2 Fernhurst with one quarter remaining.
Last quarter started with a lot of pressure from Loxwood and the pressure paid off, Joe making a tackle in the opposing half and running past two players and firing into the net 3-3!
More pressure led to the winning goal, we had a throw-in by the edge of the area on the left side, and a long throw from Jayden in to the area fell to Alex to fire home but with still 2 minutes remaining the job still wasn't done.
We were still attacking, but from a counter attack it could've been 4-4 but for a great clearance off the line from Oli to keep us ahead. The final whistle blew and a sense of relief and jubilation from the players. Even when we were down, we never gave up, Well done guys! 6 out of 6!!

A solid performance at the back! Was very composed on the ball and saved us on some quite strong attacks! Barely put a foot wrong.
